Hey guys. I'm building a new training course and wanting to include a popular UV tool. There are so many new ones out there but I'm more old school with my methods. Just wondering what you guys are using or prefer and maybe tell me your favorite part of that unwrap tool?

Haven't really checked PolyUnwrapper4 but I'm just curious what function that's better compare to TexTools?
I don't know what Maya is doing but I hope other applications start taking a similar approach because sadly it seems like development on ipackthat is all but dead.
You can just
1. Activate the "Select Sharp Edges" operator
2.Mark the selected edges as seams
3. tweak a little bit
4. profit.
Or if you really just don't care anymore, use "smart" uv project.
though "i pack that" seems.... promising.
I tested the demo,
seems to do a pretty good job
I can get by pretty well with Maya's UV tools, Unfold3D is cool but haven't used it much. 3DC isn't bad either
maya 20sec...
only thing i miss is grouping for shells...
- quick apply checker map and change tiling
- align shell horizontally or vertically by edge
- quickly nudge shells by 1 unit in any direction
- set shell resolution by smallest, largest, or just average
- set smoothing groups from UV shells
- shell align (it's ok for matching mirrored UV shells, not quite like UVDeluxe from Maya though)
- and render UV's, lots of options
@oglu , just had a look at the new layout features[of Maya] and let me tell you it's almost like a separate application in comparison to the packing 'features' added in Max2017. All that's been added is a non-convex algorithm. Pretty pathetic, really, when I see Maya's UV Layout toolset.

I haven't tried Polyunwrapper but is the relaxing algorithm the only thing you miss from Headus? I really got used to cutting my UV in a 3D viewport overtime, plus the copy UVs features are really useful.
