CLOSED. Thank you for every applicant's time and efforts. At this point we have decided on an artist to work with.
---
We are in early stages of developing our VR game Eye of the Temple. We are seeking a concept artist who can create sheets for several props to replace current placeholders as well as a few paintover color comps to serve as reference for the game’s overall art style.
Some of the props are strange mechanical devices with no real-world equivalent (think traps or puzzle elements in Lara Croft / Tomb Raider) so we’re looking for an artist who’s comfortable with designing mechanisms with parts that rotate, slide and interlock.
A crude trailer for the game can be seen here (not representative of the game’s final look):

The work can be divided into three milestones.
1) Prop concept explorationSketches / concept art; initially 3 different designs for each prop to explore different ideas and styles; 2 additional ones per prop after initial feedback. Quick sketches; not too detailed; only enough to get ideas across. Full color not needed.
Prop descriptions and references
For each prop, elements from various explorations are picked, combined and tweaked in collaboration to form a set of props with a common decided on style. Images are more detailed and precise and are in color. This should give a good sense of how each of the props will look.
Additionally and worked on in parallel, we need a few paintovers to help guide the overall style of the artwork in the game and make sure the various elements integrate nicely with each other. One exterior and two interior paintovers.

Precise drawings of each prop from multiple straight-on angles, overlaid on a grid, same way as the placeholder objects are shown in the reference material. A 3d modeler should be able to use these sheets/blueprints to model the props. Color is not needed provided the concept consolidation from milestone 2 is sufficient to use as reference for color.
How to applyPlease PM me or send a mail to rune [at] runevision.com and tell us briefly about yourself and a link to your portfolio.
We’re also looking for a fixed price offer for each of the three milestones, as well as an estimate of number of hours they would each take.
