Hey doms, i have a question for you. on those first two images, was it all hand painted, or is a combination of photomanipulation? I ask because i think the junxtaposition between the very detailed parts and the smoother simpler parts, like the scales and the eyes on the second one, for example.

Additionally, on the final image, did you start with a value painting like the others, and the blend colors back in over the top or did you do colors to start with? Im wondering all this as a 3d modeler and complete novice to digital painting and im really trying to come to grips with the process/workthrough.
The paintings look great! Always good to have new artists to learn from and talk to.

@Lexinator117 Hi ! For the first two images there is some textures on the head

And for the last image I start with a value painting, just black and white . And after I add colors with layers in different mode

So after hearing some of your advice while working on a painting (while i cant say i followed it very well) i finished it and you're welcome to take a look. Its an elite from the game Halo, dressed as a samurai. This thing kicked my butt, remind me to stay within my means next time.
