'Ello! I've been wanting to do some more hand painted characters, so here's a thing. Also, pretty excited about the upcoming remake.
Still in progress, but low poly model and base colors are down. Now, for painting!
I was aiming for about 12.000 triangles, but may slim that down if needed. (Does anyone think that's too much for this? I thought it was okay, but am open to suggestions.) The end goal is to make something that looks cool, and have a couple cool poses/effects and thingies. More to come soon!
Hey Brian, thanks for the response! In the wireframe screengrab, a lot of the skin geometry is kind of poking through the skirt, which looks iffy. I'll be shoving some polys around for that. As for nude orthos, here's a screenshot!
I think I should give it more jut around the hips, where it's highlighted, but am open to any suggestions. Also, most of the skin geometry under the clothes has been deleted, but I still have the older version with all the geometry.
Doodling right along! Still super WIP, but was able to get some work done on her today. Hoping to have textures finalized by the end of the week. Feedback always appreciated!
Wound up going on vacation, but still working away at this puppy! Getting close to done, am currently updating hands/hair/poses/everything. Any feedback always appreciated!
She's looking a liiiiiittle sunburned on the face. I'd pull the redness back a bit, and try to pull some of the same highlighting you've used on her chest, onto her forehead, nose, cheeks, and chin. really pull attention to what is otherwise a very flat looking face.
Oh wow, didn't expect comments on this. Thanks for stopping by!
@Aveon Thanks! They're appreciated, but I've pretty much just called it done and moved on. But, I might pull it off the shelf to throw some little touch ups on it. @almighty_gir Very good point, thanks! Would be a good idea to make those parts pop, and I'll keep that noted. It's kind of dull/no contrasty right now. @Tomtegubbe Sounds good! I was trying to make the eyes a bit poppy, but could probably tone down the lips a touch.
@VeryCrunchyTaco haha no worries. Take it as a "for future reference" type thing, but I think you could just push a stronger range of values and shadows in your textures, especially with the hair as it felt very much like a cap stuck to her, didn't feel like it was grounded or rooted in her scalp. The metals also show this, as you don't really get a sense them being metals really. Yekaterina Bourykina is pretty well known for her hand painted, and did a breakdown of how she did her Tryndamere fan art, so it'd be worth checking out; hope it helps! https://cdnb.artstation.com/p/assets/images/images/003/036/177/large/yekaterina-bourykina-ybourykina-tryndamere-texture-process.jpg?1468821507
@Aveon Haha, yep! I was going to be taking most feedback in that regard, though will probably touch it up and adjust final renders or something.
So true; the values are eh at best, and the hair was handled very poorly. Failing is a great learning experience, though. And that breakdown is amazing. When I grow up, I wanna be Miss Bourykina. Thanks!
