Hey folks, I'm the producer for AetherForged, an in-development indie MOBA game! We're a group of talented volunteers from all over the world and we want you to join our team!
What is AetherForged?
We consider AetherForged to be the spiritual successor to the cancelled game Dawngate. Unlike other games in the genre, we have a heavy focus on lore and story. The game takes place in a fully realized fantasy world with a rich history free of plot holes. The characters make sense, they have personal motivations, and they all have their place within the world. Our game designers are competitive veterans with deep insight and have updated the traditional MOBA mechanics to allow for more aggressive gameplay with a smoother experience. We have a small, but passionate (and growing!) fanbase that's just excited to play the game as we are! Who we're looking for:
The most important thing we're looking for is someone who can work well on a team. You should be open to constructive criticism and have a desire to learn and improve. You should be someone who can briefly check in with the rest of the team on a daily basis, even if you don't have time to draw that day. You should be someone who is willing to come to weekly meetings if your schedule allows for it. Communication is key to a successful project.
Concept Artist:
You are a generalist that is able to tackle environment and props
You have an exceptional understanding of human and creature anatomy
You have experience with the creation of orthographics for characters, sets
You have an eye toward form, shape, structure, and silhouette in regard to illustration and design
You have a great eye for light, value, composition, and color
You are able to adapt to the style needed
You have an unrelenting self-motivation and drive (A passion for MOBA games is a plus)
3D Environment Artist:
You should have a firm understanding of the general pipeline for asset creation.
You must be able to take concept images and general guidelines to create assets that will populate the game world.
You have exceptional digital sculpting, retopology, UVing/normal-mapping, and stylized texturing skills.
You are a team player with passion and self-motivation.
You are able to adapt and thrive in a changing artistic environment.
Financial Expectations:
Everyone working on the project works for free as a volunteer. Once we enter the closed alpha phase we will begin gathering funding for the game. This will initially take the form of crowdfunding such as Patreon or Kickstarter and will come from in-game monetization post-release. Aside from essentials such as server costs, we will ideally hire everyone to work on the game, however this will be based on a number of factors, the most important one of course being how large of a budget we have to work with. Therefore, we cannot promise any compensation- our biggest priority is making a game that people enjoy- but down the line, if we can afford to pay you, we will.
