Max/Maya/Blender - Streamlined process for body morphs in regards to clothing?

As the title says, I was curious if anyone had maybe links, whitepapers or comments on how it would be best to tackle different body types and bringing clothes for them?

For example, if I have a Tuxedo, and wanted to put it on my fat character instead of skinny one, would I simply be pushing polygons around, or is there more?

Also, what about skin-tight clothing? Something from skinny to fat body type seems pretty time consuming to do (or is it?)
