3DS MAX PhysX: Bones fly all around.

Hello people.
I have had this problem for days now, and I can't seem to find a fix for it. I have created a rope, and rigged it with bones with added rigid bodies on them. As far as I can tell, everything is set up as it needs to be, but when I simulate physics on it, the bones fly around in seemingly random directions, instead of staying together.
I have tried tweaking the settings for "Steps" in the "Time" tab in the PhysX tools, as well as the Solver Iterations in the "Rigid Bodies" tab with very little result.
Does anyone know a fix for this?
