hey guys I am currently sculpting cartoon female character similar to the paper planes short animation style to test if i can achieve this style and then more than likely make it game engine ready
Nice work. Maybe work on the proportions a bit more. Her shoulders look too broad and masculine. She looks better from the sides but very awkward from the front. Also you shrunk her head down. The overall shape on your first post was a lot better.
ps also i am also looking for some ideas what clothes to put her in if any of you guys have an idea what might be cool remember i am probably gonna make her into a playable character so nothing to crazy.
Are you trying to make the character from the short or a character with the similar style/ proportions?
One thing to keep in mind about Disney models is that they really focus on the overall forms and don't get too bogged down into anatomical detail. You can also look at Ana and Elsa from Frozen and Rapunzel from tangled to get an understanding of the kind of proportions they go for.
You're getting a lot of blobbyness do to sculpting at a very high resolution.
Indeed, you've got far too much anatomy going on here for disney style. They keep it super simple and clean. There isnt any muscle definition and the forms can all be described with very smooth simple curves. It's an exercise in restraint, not flashiness. http://imgur.com/a/8ZQ0W
just finalised the sculpt process thanks for the feed back guys this was my first time sculpting something of this style so the help was appreciated I am going to move on to another sculpt whilst saving this one for when i cave the time to re top it and make it engine ready thanks guys.
You didn't listen to the critique given already. Stop adding detail, step back to a lower poly and get those forms to flow like a Disney character model. Likewise, the same for the clothes. The clothes you've thrown on don't hide the blobby forms underneath, and the clothes themselves are just as blobby.
