The above are 4 tiers of Diamond Icons that I made for a mobile game. My Process was modeling, and basic lighting and surfacing the 3D models, which I then made a basic render from. At that point I brought it into Photoshop and did some painting.
While these images are done and I will not rework them, comments and crits are always welcome, I can def use anything that I learn from your crits for future work

One way I tackled this recently for a hand-painted asset (no reflections whatsoever) was to layer an interior shading as dark blobs on top and bright blobs on the bottom, then have the sharp reflections on the exterior as bright above, dark below.
I really like the sparkles used in the image, its definitely something that i think adds a lot of life to it.
