Some progress shots. Happy with my pose and general idea, but a bit worried about pushing the art deco angle. For the last idea the car / suit made it read as obviously that time period, but a random criminal looking dude with a straight razor and a cigar isnt screaming 'aliens obsessed with the 1920's' yet.
Also using the XMD brushes for the straight razor decoration. Make it pretty easy to get some nice elaborate decoration on it.
I think it lookso tight! Right now it doesn't look very 1920s. I think you might have lost something when you decided against clothes. athe this point the only art Deco is gonna come from his environment
Thanks guys . I think i agree about th e razor not looking right. gonna re-design it i think.
Gonna try push the art deco side a bit more with the mirror, maybe some floor tiles, then i'm gonna get into low poly territory. Leaving the country for a month on the 19th of this month (i, so i gotta finish fast!
Cut the scars and some skin lines with the XMD seam brush at low strength, used the Satin (i think) one + a mask to do the inlay around the towel, and also used it to add the ribbish skin around his ears
Really awesome modeling. The character design and details are great. I'd prefer a scene that shows off more of his wardrobe and personality, the shaving scene you have setup is a little weird. I agree with your comment "a random criminal looking dude with a straight razor and a cigar isnt screaming 'aliens obsessed with the 1920's' yet." I'm not sure why you ditched the car idea (time restraints?) but I really liked your initial sketch.
Yeah, i'm regretting not going with my initial idea, would've been a hell of a lot easier to do a final comp, and it would fit into a 1920x1080 really well. Also would've been easier to make use of XMD brushes. Oh well live and learn. Some new zbrush comp wips.
Getting towards the end now. Might tweak the lights a bit (with fresh eyes tomorrow). Need to put a misty cityscape in the background and it should be done.
Any critique is appreciated! This is the first time i've finished a real composition so there's probably all kinds of booboos.
It still looks awesome! I like what you've done, this actually is a great composition. My only critiques at the moment would be 1. it's very dark, the scene could use some more light. Maybe the mirrors could be lit, some magnifying mirrors come a light around the edge 2. the tattoos look stamped on and aren't very "natural" looking. Great work! I can't wait to see it with the cityscape.
I agree with Keven. Also, the mirror (I assume they're mirrors?) facing us isn't reflecting anything. It's this big solid grey area that attracts the eye. It's been bugging me, lol This came out amazing though, really awesome work! I like that you flipped the composition back and toned down the light coming from the corner.
Thanks for the tips/critique guys Really helped me improve. Fixed those two problems and NOW im done! Jumping on a plane tomorrow so i'm out of time anyway. It's crazy how many mistakes appear after taking a day off from looking at something. Can't wait to see what you guys come up with!

One day my concept art will be so pretty.
Any critique is appreciated!
Almost finished with the Car in maya, will add all my deets in Zbrush i think.
edit: maya crashed and corrupted my file. Shit.
Losing my car broke my wee heart. So i'm working on a new idea. Here's the base mesh so far.
nice character
Quick progress shot. Literally just discovered BPR in Zbrush a week ago and it's so nice.

Playing with some test renders/composition. I've never really done a proper composition before so this is new territory for me.

Edit: Touched it up a bit again, now i'm done! This is my final submission.
