PC build for MAYA & ZBRUSH

Hi Guys

I'm putting together a PC purely for high end ZBRUSH work and moderate MAYA use.
I have never done this before so was hoping to get some much needed advice.
Any tips/advice would be hugely appreciated.

well, looks to me that your proposed video card is pretty slow compared to nowadays standard. is there a reason to go with last generation here for a new build (compatibility with maya or other...?). you're not going to need top of the line but e.g. the 1070 is a nice speed bump, good to have for realtime renders, especially going forward.

next up you are pretty low on hard drive space overall it seems. i'd at least add in another 1 TB hard drive for backup/mirroring and that 500 GB SSD is probably best used as a work drive, to be back-upped by the spinning ones. which would mean that you'll need another 250-ish+ SSD for the OS+apps. best to always keep this separate.

lastly windows 7 - can you still get that? i mean it works fine, no complaints but are you sure about availability these days - or is this a copy you already have?

I'd swap the 970 for a 1070, since they run around the same price.

I wouldn't go for a pre-built computer if you can help it. Putting together a computer is extremely easy, and you will save a lot of money.

Also avoid workstation cards, the price/performance is not worth it.
