Hello all!! First time poster here, even though I lurk these forums for quite a bit of time! Just a couple of words,I work at a retailer and I taught myself to model, render, animate etc. some products. Even though i get payed for what I do, I don't consider myself a pro because I need to lurn so much more! I am heavily interested in hardsurface modeling and I use C4D and Octane for the renders,I really enjoy working with these two softwares. Now,my difficulties lie in cutting holes in the surfaces of smartphones. Let me show you an example. What would be the correct way to cut that hole,so that there is no pinching in my surface..????? I am trying to support all edges and make all quads, but i just can't make it work for the small hole (where the flash is)! Hope this is the correct place to post!
Thanks all!
This is what I am trying to create
This is where I am at. There are obvious phong breaks and the small cut is problematic pinching the whole geometry close to it.
Subdivided.
This is what the surface looks like. Lumps and pinch on the border..
I need to preserve the curvature of the model and at that particular poing I am failing close the small hole!

To answer your question, I think you just need more supporting edge loops.
Thanks a lost Rusty..A noob like me is easy to oversee even the most obvious things! Love modeling and trying to become better!
