I'm trying to build an environment in UE4 of a Japanese styled room but I'm having a hard time figuring out how to recreate those effects:
I guess the same effect is needed for the panels. Anyone know a good tutorial on how to achieve this? Either inside of Substance designer or UE4.
Thanks!

The main issue with ricepaper is that it is not really "translucent", the light shining through the other side is a subsurface scattering effect. So if emissive materials do not suit your needs the next thing I would try is to use subsurface scattering. I've never used it for broad surfaces though, I'm not sure how well it would work.
Thanks!
