Graphics Card Selection - Better to have More MHz or VRAM (Running Quixel Suite/3D Artist Workflow)

Hi,

Im looking to upgrade my Graphics Card  to a - nVidia Geforce GTX 1060 version, either the EVGA GTX 1060 3GB Super Clocked (1607MHz - Base Clock) & (1835MHz - Boost Clock)

or the

EVGA GTX 1060 6GB Fatory Specs (1506MHz - Base Clock) & (1708MHz - Boost Clock)

-So the question is whether its better to have more MHz or VRAM and whats the Pro's and Con's of having either one or the other. 

General Specs for both: Pascal (GPU Architecture), 192-bits (Memory Interface Width)

Although the 6GB runs 1280 CUDA cores and the 3GB runs 1152 CUDA cores - What i have seen with Gaming Benchmarks it quite negligible, but that's interms to gaming and I don't know how that would affect Texturing/Modeling/Rendering etc.

Go for 6GB, substance designer can use more than 4GB vram on 4k textures. The speed you'll lose from -100mhz will be negligible, but if you hit your vram cap the program will stall.

I use a GTX 970 4GB. The SD40-2 in my signature uses 8k, 4k, and 2k textures simultaneously in 3DO with no viewport slowdowns in 3DO whatsoever. You're probably fine with the hardware you have, but it never hurts to upgrade.

Do not buy the 3GB version, i am using 6GB GTX 1060 Gigabyte G1 edition it runs Maya, Mari, Substance etc very well. Get 6GB version.
