How do you guys go around texturing large game models like space ships etc?
I mean, I can use a larger texture size(4096x4096) to hold the details but the performance cost and time taken for that process, i feel is not worth the trouble.
After some research i came across a few posts here on polycount, about how large game models used in Star Citizen were textured and also some posts on the unity forum.
The methods they used sound very promising, but i cant really understand the workflow behind those methods.
Can someone please explain, how you texture such a game model?
