Maya texture/pixel density revist

so looking for answers and one google search led to this old thread

reading down till the numbered list I had a question...

  • before moving all shells into the uv space (for the UV snapshot) when i resize my shells to fit into the uv snapshot space, the good checkered pattern i worked so hard to keep uniform and good gets all messed up as I resize to fit them all into that box. Is this normal? I'm having trouble thinking of how to resize them without my texture checker getting all messed up? I am working in 2048x and also have a 2048x checker pattern I made.

  • One other question... I've googled it a bit today but does anyone know how I can change the "packing resolution" while doing my UVs? I am trying to make sure my UV comes out exactly as 2048 because I think maya has some default settings somewhere that are stuck at 512 or 256... maybe paranoid but want to be sure.
