Our newly created and rapidly growing game development group is looking for a talented and passionate 3D modeler to work in in Newport News, VA. The successful candidate will be working on a series of exciting next generation military training game products and architectural models. With strong 3D modeling and texturing skills, you will work closely with other game designers and programmers to create the 3d assets needed for our projects. You will collaborate effectively with a small, high energy team of artists, designers, and programmers.
The successful candidate must possess the ability to work in a rapid agile development environment. Strong 3dsmax / Maya modeling skills, Strong Texturing skills using Quixel Suite or Substance Painter. Strong, proactive problem-solving and troubleshooting skills are a must. Game Art & Design degree or equivalent work experience--plus passion for game technologies and be a continuous, fast, and eager learner.
Responsibilities :
Create highly detailed and believable 3D models and textures for various hard surface assets
Create mechanical models that show a high degree of articulation and animation
Create high quality art and high quality models and textures
Work alongside the art director to maintain the high standards of modelling, texturing, PBR material
Communicate with the Project manager and Creative Director to translate wireframes, blueprints and technical notes into finished product- Create high quality 3D assets according to established art direction of each project- Create assets for each phase of development including concept art, UI and UX design, graphics, animation and marketing artwork- Assist in the collection of photographic imagery to serve as reference for 3D development- Current project: Design a 3d game environment in which students can train with virtual military equipment to prepare them for service in the United States Marine Corps and Army.
Education Required: B.S. Game Art & Design. Years of experience required: 1 year
Experience/Skills Required:
Experience in the game industry-
3D skills (3DS Max, MAYA, Z-Brush)
Ability to create a wide scope of 3D assets
Proficient in Photoshop- Ability to Create Textures, Normal Mapping, Displacement Mapping
Experience with Quixel Suite or Substance Painter
Strong understanding of scale, proportion, and surface properties
Ability to take and apply direction and work well in a team environment
Experience using Unity5 -
A strong portfolio showcasing each of these required skills- Able to work both alone and in a team environment- Able to travel
