In the past Ive come here looking for help on projects way too advanced for me and thats why they still remain unfinished. So! Im taking one of them to a small point and Im working on a shock absorber for a trophy truck front end. This is just the reservoir for the oil, I wanted to see how it turned out and how I can improve it. So heres what I got from knald.

High poly:

Low poly with maps applied:

And the normals - Doesnt look TOO bad right? Way better than I usually get..

So, What can I do to improve my result?

Looks fine.  Get it textured.  Finish it.

Post your exact reference so we know what you're trying to make specifically.  Visuals work better than words generally.  Faster to look at most times.

The bake seems fine, technicals wise, besides a chunk of the UV space you left empty, you're okay, but you should leave more UV space for the other bits of the shock absorber you're going to make.

If you're just sticking to making this oil resevoir, I'd suggest getting it textured up.

    Here you go.

The open space will have the rest included and most likely re arranged, I just wanted to test the one section first to see if it would come out okay. It has some difficult shapes Im having a bit of a time with, that being the top and bottom. I have down to Here and up to here currently.

Working on something different to keep my motivation from stagnating.
Remade the low poly for this pillar I made a few months ago. And did a test bake. This looks really good to me although one spot is a bit wobbly. Not sure why.

    Any tips?
