When finshed wih the high poly what do most normally do to make the low poly? Do many use quad draw to retopo or remove or the edges that arn't needed? Or is it better to make the low poly first then work on the high poly. Thanks
Depends on your workflow. In my case since I use Maya, I use quad draw. Some people use topogun, others use 3DCoat, etc etc. I'm sure other 3d packages have their own retopology tool. You could also retopo inside ZBrush.
The method you mention "remove the edges that arent needed" That could also work- but that seems a lot more work imho (depends on your mesh I guess)
Depends on the method you used to create the high-poly. If you used sub-d(creasing/opensubdiv) then you don't need to build the low-poly but rather you can optimise/modify the sub-d cage mesh. Here's a vid from my YT channel on the subject: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=za6CizoKNKU
