The
Video Department Manager’s job at
Antimatter Games is to support and organise the current video staff with projects while looking to grow the department through optimising scheduling, identifying opportunities and communicating with both existing and potential new clients.
In addition, the Video Department Manager must be comfortable managing footage, creating shots, working on edits and designing graphics in order to digitally create videos of a high standard, with a focus on the production and implementation of Motion Graphics as part of larger projects created at Antimatter as well as contracted promotional projects for our clients.
Applicants must be able to work well both leading and as part of a team, working both independently on tasks as well as coordinating and cooperating on larger team projects. It is critical that you are able to comfortably fit quickly into a busy studio environment. We are looking for candidates with a strong work ethic and a passion for our industry with a keen interest and understanding of a wide variety of video games and film is essential, as is extensive knowledge of post-production workflow.
As a part of the application process, applicants will be required to complete a skills test where they will undertake a short video project to illustrate their abilities.
Example Duties:
* Optimising departmental efficiency through scheduling and smart use of resources
* Providing leadership and organisation for the video team
* Client interactions, both existing and new clients
* Working with company leadership to create and implement departmental direction and growth
* Recording and editing video footage using in-engine tools for a variety of video games
* Creating pre-production materials, such as storyboards and animatics, for video projects
* Rotoscoping and preparing footage for graphical effects artists
* Developing new clients and filling your team’s schedule with profitable, productive work
Essential Skills:
* Experience of managing a group of creative video professionals, ideally in the Video Games industry.
* Client management experience
* Clearly demonstrated video composition and design ability
* Proficiency and working knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite (Principally Premiere, AfterEffects, Encoder and Illustrator)
* A track record of managing a scheduling video projects with multiple team members
* Proficiency in an editing suite
* Outstanding organisational skills, with excellent written and verbal communication ability
* A creative mind-set, able to envision original and exciting ideas
* A deep and thorough understanding of video games and the industry
Desirable Skills:
* Strong knowledge of motion graphic design
* Ability to create pre-production material and to communicate and plan ideas, such as storyboarding and sketching
* Experience interpreting, discussing and working with a brief and providing direction and instruction quickly and precisely
* Experience creating content inside game engines and/or videos about games
