Hello!
This is my first time posting on here!
I'm a bit shy and generally not very good at being active on forums, but I'd like to try and make a habit of posting here. Working freelance, I don't get much opportunity for sharing ideas and feedback with other artists, so I could do with the occasional sanity check / push to try harder.
I want to start with some hard surface modelling. I just got Quixel Suite 2.0 and I want to have some nice detailed models so I can have a good play around with it!
So here's what I've started working on:
It's not based on any particular concept, but I guess it has a bit of a similarity to Claptrap from Borderlands. I just had the rough idea of making a mono-wheel robot with a split faring over the head, so I started with the wheel then made a rough sketch over to figure out the proportions and made up the rest as I went along.
I'm not entirely sure where to go from here. I'd like to add some more details to break up the symmetry, maybe a bit of wear and tear. I'm also thinking it might be nice to add some soft surfaces, maybe a tow strap hanging from the hook at the back, or a little bag attached to the bars on his back?
Any feedback or suggestions would be welcome.
Thanks!

Nice work! Enjoyed seeing this morning!
p.s. I love the helmet design in this image, makes me think a sci-fi take on speed skating could be pretty cool...
Hopefully I'll have a bit of time this weekend to get the low-poly done and maybe make a start on the textures.
Since my last update I've got the low poly done and made a start on texturing the thing in Quixel. I'm still trying to get to grips with the Quixel workflow but I'm really liking the results so far.

Think I still want to add a few stickers and labels, and maybe a bit of dirt around the tyre tread. Then I'll get it rigged and animated!
