Hello guys,
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Today I decided to create a character that was sitting in my concept folder for a while now. With all Witcher models that were uploaded to Artstation recently, I couldn't help myself.
I'll be creating the Witcher Hunter, concept by Face Zero
https://www.artstation.com/artwork/v908xIt is quite challenging, but I hope that I'll manage
Any help/suggestions/comments will be welcome!

Body is pretty much untouched, I gotta find a good reference, focused on the face, to get the right proportions.
His head also may be a tad small, unless you're going for more heroic proportions.
Looking forward to seeing more!
That reference and comment helps a lot, as I had some issues finding the new ones. I will fix the overall proportions while I get the body in place, I had a feeling the back is feeling too thin
I made an artistic decision towards face, as i dont like the concept one very much. I wont make it so wrinkled etc.
Plan is to make him cinematic, all the details will be in displacement map besides overall textile noise.
Next stage - hands and blockout for all the chest gear. After all that is done, I'll come back to each piece and bring it to awsome detail level )
Yeah, I will get to that Thanks!
@Nuclear Angel
I will check how he looks with all the gear in Thank you
Thank for you input! As long as he is wide, the way he should be it's great. I can always work on his muscle/fat and I certainly will.
Thank you! That is the artistic decision I was talking about, I think the forehead deformation on the concept in too heavy so I decided to skip it and make some overall changes. He will still be fat and ugly tho
Ah I see, I just scrolled through the thread pretty fast so I might have missed it, I'd personally include it but I guess it's up to you.
Good to know that he is going in the correct direction.
I took the first one (result - https://www.artstation.com/artwork/VNZPn)
But I might've shared that model on the facebook group
His head does look like it's a bit smaller/skinnier than the original concept although I know you said you were making some changes from the concept. His expression could also be pushed a bit further to make him look even more mean.
I can't wait to see what he looks like finished!
There still will be a lot of work to body/face in terms of secondary/tertiary detail. Expression will be changed in the end also
His face reminds me a bit of this character
I am really happy that you like the way he is going guys!
More detail got to him!
And some nicer render
Yes, of course Once I'm finished with HP, I'll give myself some break from him and get LP + Texutures done.
There is no visible arms There is a cloth coming from his shoulder, down his arm. I probably should seprate these with a different colour next render.
Thanks! I had the same feeling about the shoes, I will take a look at them.
Also, that skullet! I gotta think about it, but its a great idea
An update with face detail
Added the remaining maps today(roughness mostly). Gotta play with scatter depth next. Everything will be tweaked few times by time I finish it anyways ^^
Thank you! To be fair, I did not plan on adding them from the very beginning. Once i got into texturing I noticed that he forhead looks really boring, so i probably will do that
Im really into skin-shading, so I felt I need to try new Marmoset out
@peloncr
Thanks!
I want that guy to shine in my folio, so any advice is more than appreciated!
Ive had this guy in a potential projects folder for a while just because of that face!
Suggestions were brought to life Face-lifting the other way around.
In my opinion you could add a few more fine pore details and add some more details on the lips.
Cant wait to see your texturing progress
Thanks, I will take a look at stuff you mentioned
Seems like you are losing some wrinkle detail in your bake though? Looking at your ZB viewport vs your latest paint, the face details seem about 20-25% softer?
yeah, I noticed that. I had my scatter depth(sss) set a little bit too high and flat light also washes out detail. Changed it a bit
