Want to start archviz

People who build up a portfolio around architectual viz, where do they get their reference? I mean, if you type living room into google all you will find is arch viz's of other people, do people invent their concept for a living room for example? do they learn design? thank you for the input

The architecture community doesn't seem as generous as the game art community where everything is free and info is plentiful...
there's no wiki for architectural design like there is for game art(strange considering architecture has been a thing since the dawn of time)

I went from the game industry to archviz and in my first portfolio I took photos of existing places and made 3D versions of them, I didn't watch any tutorials or take any courses. Later, you'll discover that creating archviz from scratch is a different thing as you don't have the "cheat sheet" of a finished, polished photo, but it's a good way to start learning. As a more experienced archvizer (is that a word?) I'd say that most people can do those perfectly lit, tasteful interiors (they practically make themselves), so make sure you practice both interiors and exteriors and that you can do different things. Also, make sure you can read blueprints (a bit at least) and can model your own assets. I learned most of what I know after I actually got a job at an architect firm, so don't stress about knowing everything, just show them that you can do good images and that you have an artistic ability.
