Interesting. There is a rollover state for the button. Not sure why it's not appearing though. <div class="MenuItems MenuItems-Reactions Up" style="bottom: 18px; left: -51.5px; visibility: visible;">
Is it possible to move the icons to the right side under the buttons rather than over them? Right now they appear right above the posters signature which seems like an odd place to put them.
I tried this, but couldn't get it to work. It's also unclear how that would work on mobile, since there's no hover. Maybe long tap would work for that. Anyhow, put it in the wishlist thread if you like.
I'll experiment with making the avatars smaller. Maybe the size of the greentooth.
If this is intentional I don't think it's a good idea. Doesn't matter for spam but in cases like abuse/harassment related to controversial topics it seems possible that people would hesitate to report if they know everyone will see it. It may not matter, but generally speaking some degree of privacy/anonymity is useful in getting people to report interpersonal disputes.
I'll ask Vanilla about adding a function to hide Flag reaction avatars. But we don't currently have a way to hide those. It's all or nothing, unfortunately.
I like the fact that people like the mods and other really helpful people would get more recognition by newer people who maybe aren't aware of how helpful many people are. I also like the friendly, nudge on the shoulder, aspect of it, but there are some annoying issues with this on forums in my experience.
You mean, people turning into "like" whores, that kind of crap? I'd like to think we could just turn it all off again, but I know there'd be also some backlash to removing it once people have gotten used to it. Dunno. I think it's worth a try though. Web stuff is so much in flux anyhow, it's good to change things up a little, as long as things don't get toxic.
That screenshot is 30, looks like about 70 would fill the width. Is one post ever going to get more than 70 likes?
Supposedly we have 226789 total users, but really only about 50 are regulars each day. We seem to get about 50k page views on the average day, site-wide.
It's really a small tight little community when you think about it. Albeit, one with a bunch of peepers peering through the bathroom windows.

So at least, that's one way to see if you've clicked it already.
But if it proves to be annoying we can turn it off again.
