NEED Help with Substance Painter 2

Hi all,

So I've encountered an issue with Substance Painter 2 for a little bit now. For some materials that I have downloaded and put them in the materials folder in the shelf folder, and when I start up Substance Painter 2, sometimes the materials won't load up properly, or won't be recognized correctly. By this I mean that the preview node for the material won't show what the material looks like, instead it will have a generic Substance Painter icon instead, and this happens to some of the other materials that I have already downloaded and were recognized correctly. However when the material is recognized correctly, then all the materials appear correctly on their nodes.

Has anyone else encountered this issue after downloading a custom material for Substance Painter 2, and if you have, do you a way to fix this issue? Any feedback on this is greatly appreciated. Thank you

If the little arrows appear more that a few seconds, that means the thumbnail of this material is being computed. Once the computation is done (it can take a few minutes on very complex materials) it is saved down on the disk (unless the application crashed). Did you try waiting a bit ?

I believe I have wait a bit. I can try waiting to see if it needs to be computed still or not. I'll do that in a little while here.

@Froyok although you mentioned to wait a few minutes, when I do wait, how long should be the maximum amount of time that I should wait before I consider that something might be wrong with the material?

@Froyok so when I did wait for a few minutes or more, it finally computed the new material, and the rest of the materials. I read somewhere online that you should open up Substance Painter 2 first correct so that way it computes all of the materials?

Once the computation of the materials is done you can start working normally.
