Hey guys!
Came here with my new project im working on. Im not really new to 3D but this one is my first scene im made all by myself. It started with a really easy concept, but at this point its far beyond what I wanted to do.... and im stuck now
I really want to start doing textures but I also dont want crappy model. I just want to wrap it up as neatly as I can, that's why i came here for some help, critique or pain-tover. what i can add, what delete, what change
Thats how it looks right now. If there is a nice soul out there who could help me i would higly apprciate it ^^
I want to post here all my progress, and learn a ton while doing it
cheers guys!

to be honest with you , for me right now it's hard to say something. I mean it's not bad but it's not epic because it's really early to have an advice about your project. The things I can say are :
- Try to change a bit the proportion to get something more cartoony ( if it's want you looking for ^^ )
- Try to put a moodboard to show where you will go with this project or maybe a paint over if you are comfortable with.
- Maybe you can scale up the tree and add some root go out from the rock ( it's just an idea ofc )
Ofc it's only my opinion . Keep it up ;-)
Hey thanks a lot! i really like the idea about tree and root, i will definitely do that it does look a bit plain right now. I m going to look for some pictures and make moodboard, that should help. I would love to make it more stylized and cartoony, but I also dont know how to achieve that. once I will have moodboard maybe it will be easier to figure it out
Thanks again!
I do have some problems with it. as im stuck a bit. Some advice maybe on how textures turned out? Its still not finished. I need to make more grass and flowers maybe. some things need textures but its getting along
Thanks!
Here are a few things which I think you could take a second look at that would really add to the piece:
- In the first image, it's very obvious that the branches are just flat cards -- can you add in an edge loop or two and pull them up to give it more of a chunky silhouette from that angle?
- Your tree leaf texture is really good. I dig it.
- I noticed that you've painted grass leaves on the bottom of the tent fabric. That's a cool idea, but it's pretty obvious that they're part of the same geometry as the fabric. Instead, what I've seen a lot of people do is use clumps of cards, like you've done around the base of the tree. Maybe you could swap out the painted bits with cards like that?
- There's a few other things that I think are more WIP - the rock and campfire, and also the unwrapping around the edge of your scene. Once you're done with the texture, it'd be really nice to add a little bit of particle/smoke FX to the campfire to get it to the next level.
- I think you could add more geometry to your prop objects and add more detail/resolution to the textures there, too. The tree and ground textures really show off your handpainting skills, and IMO you should take any more opportunities you have to show that off!
