Hi fellow Polycounters.
Here is my version of the popular AK.
It is an portfolio piece withe the purpose to practice baking an texturing.
I modeld the entire gun with the interior parts just for personal favor. And for the possibility of customization. So the AK could be without the cover of the reciever and the gas piston in engine.
Although I spend many hours researching the AK is not perfectly accurate, I think it's okay. Only the experts among us will know
.
My goal for texturing was to make an old used gun.
For highres Images with a little bit of compositing visti my artstation:
https://www.artstation.com/artwork/ZOLlGFor this thread you get the unpolished Marmoset renderings. So you can better judge my work and give critique. Please let me know what you think. So I can improve the AK further and improve myself.
Thank you!!

In my opinion increase HDR light just a little bit and then light up your darker areas with child lights with combination of darker red and blue and yeah like Gazu and joshua said darken your metal little bit it will give a nice contrast to your weapon .
Having done this gun myself including all the interiors, I can really appreciate the work that went into this.
regarding the texture, I think it's refreshing.
