Hey guys,
so recently I completed a year working in the VFX industry here in Vancouver and I decided to write an article about this amazing experience. I shared a few tips and advice that I learned throughout this great year working in a VFX company with big movies.
Even though the article was written with my experience in movies, I think those tips also apply to the game industry as well.

I hope you guys enjoy the writing and if you did, please share with your friends and let me know if you're interested in more content like that. I'm thinking about writing more often
Thanks a lot!

Quick Mari process question, how did you do your spec and gloss channels. Did you start by duplicating spec channel, renamed it, and add something like a highpass filter (either in Mari or Photoshop). Thanks in advance.
Thanks!
Usually, my spec map is a black and white version of my Diffuse with a few level tweaks.
My gloss map is completely different from my spec. Some people like to invert it, but I prefer to analyze the object and see how I'll approach the glossiness. Sometimes I like to use a texture with a few smudges and fingerprints but It can vary a lot.
Hope it helps and sorry for the late reply.
