How to get 3D Coat Autopo Symmetry to work?

So, I am currently trying to use 3d coat for all my UV needs. Normally, I just toss in my model and let the auto UV button do the rest. However, I am currently trying to get my low poly sword to have mirrored UVs in order to have more texture room. I've tried looking for such an option in the UV tab, but aparently there isn't such an option. So, I looked around and saw that the auto retopology thing theoretically has the ability to have symmetry when it does it's thing. So, I hop into the retopo tab, drag my obj in and tell it to autopo. I press ok, press S to turn on symmetry, press next without doing anything further (since it suggest not to do so at least at first) aaaaaaaand, nothing happens. It says HEY, you have a NEW UV SET in the upper left corner. Nothing there. No change to the mesh either. There are no UVs in the big old UV box on the right either. I try it again without symmetry, same result. What am I doing wrong?
