I plan on doing something small but focus on the details and textures. I found this tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9MYGCdf9VHs
It looks good but I currently work in Maya and the tutorial use 3ds max. Do you think it should be a concern? Should I go for it or do you know better and cheaper tutorial? This one is 35$usd on gumroad.

Thanks for the help!

it depends where you are at really, when you start you need to know how to navigate your software, so software specific tools, but when you know where all your stuff is an how it relates to each other a chamfer is a chamfer, a bevel is a bevel, Sub-d modeling practices are all generally the same.

so in the latter case you can pretty much follow any tutorial and so long as its focusing more on the theories and guiding you on the practices of the modeling process you can for sure get something out of it.

How well do you know maya? there is not much you can do in one that you cant do in the other. and if you run across a tool or technique you do not know the equivalent for in maya you can always do a google search and if nothing comes up ask here. A lot of the texturing is being done in substance painter i think so that part should not really matter as to which main modeling package you are using.
