Hello once again fellow polycounters,
I recently got back from vacation at my lake house in Minnesota and I came across my grandfathers fishing pole and realized how awesome of an asset it is, ranging from unique shapes for hard surface, and unique materials for texturing, so I figured hey... why not model this bad boy when I get home?!
So first off, here is the texture sheet that I'm using. Its a "Mitchell Garcia 330" fishing pole in case you wanted to go back and look it up yourself if this isn't enough images for you to look at
The high poly is done so far. Everything is solid geometry. There are no floaters at all. Every once in a while I find it to be good practice to do this and keep your skills up. Here are the wires and a couple renders to check out. Comments and Critiques are always welcome
Hope you enjoy. Low poly, bakes, and textures to follow

I had the Garcia Mitchell 300 model way back when I was into fishing.
great job! I love the details in this.
Did you use a script or generate them by hand? Either way they look fantastic!
It might be nice to see it on a non grey background.
Alvin - Thanks, appreciate the kind words.
Marshkin- Everything is done by hand. I should probably look into using things like quadchamfer and whatnot, but I enjoy doing some things the old fashioned way ha. Here's a different renderfor ya too.
And from here, I have some decent base materials set up..
Have to do the the wear and tear passes of everything, and dirt and whatnot, but so far, im pretty happy with it overall.
Again, comments and critiques are welcome
No problem guy, nice model!
Going to put a couple more on the Artstation.. https://www.artstation.com/artist/mikejohnfrank86
I would say though, that the scratches on the red box are very gamey. Too soft and not defined at all.
Make them more sharp and with proper form, or tone them down. Something to be realistic doesn't need to be covered in wear.
For your knowledge, here is the reference i was using for the tackle box
and here's mine at a closer look
appreciate the feedback
The scratches on the corner of the box (in the photo) look hardn (like the hardness parameter in photoshop) and on your texture (pictured in this post above) they are soft. Can you notice the difference between the two?
The latest pic you posted has the front scratches looking like how I imagined based on the photos I saw. Perhaps the metal scratches on the back part of your model didn't get as much polish as the front part. If that is the case perhaps you should have framed the box better in the shots so you can show the front area more clearly
Thanks!
