Hello sorry for the stupid question , I am a newbie on render things but I was wondering when I model a light source in a scene , like a lamp etc and I want different of those have different colors, should I give the materials all the same and apply a second polygonal model in front to alter the light with a glass material of different color or I shoudl make a transparent glass for all and then color instead the light?

so in few should I color the lights or the glasses?

This depends on your engine/renderer and style. Typically coloring your light source sitting that sits in the lamp would be the way to go. If you find that you can't get the look you want, adjust the settings on your glass surface. You can also use a glow map to control the effect, but not actually emit light. Say an old dirty oil lamp not fully lit, but has dirty edges that let less light through.
