Kwalee is hiring! We're looking for a talented Lead Designer to help us create amazing games
Kwalee is an expanding, independent mobile game developer based right in the heart of Leamington Spa, England, specialising in multiplayer, mass market games featuring user generated content. The Company was founded by David Darling CBE in 2011 (he was one of the original founders of Codemasters). We have a dynamic, highly experienced team of developers, including the original creator of Micro Machines, who use their talents to create highly innovative and exciting games.
We are currently looking for a Lead Designer who has a passion for mobile games and experience in F2P mobile game design. You will report directly to the Producer and will be responsible for leading the team and design our games to make them as successful as possible. Core tasks will include leading the team, concepting, designing, implementing and analysing the success of features.
You must have:
At least 3 years design experience with at least 2 years working on successful free to play mobile games
Lead design and management experience
Logical mindset and some analytics experience including running live game tests, analysing player behaviour, balancing economies, balancing gameplay
Innovative, creative and strong problem solving skills
Proven ability to work at many levels, from high level concepts to detailed design implementation and balancing
A “self-starter” mentality
Attention to detail
Excellent communication & presentation skills
A strong interest in mobile games and play them daily
Desirable:
At least 2 shipped titles worked on from beginning to end
- Experience with relevant game engines such as Unity or Unreal, Photoshop and other related software packages
Salary and location
Salary is negotiable depending upon experience and proven track record plus company benefits and royalties sharing scheme

This job is based in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire
The position involves working a minimum of 40 hours per week in our office
