If i create a selection in photoshop then add a new material, it applies the material to just that area of the selection. Which is great, but is there also a way to keep that selection and then edit the ddo mask for like say a cavity mask or any of the great powerful features in quick edit mask? It seems to then ignore the initial selection and apply the mask to the whole texture. I would like to have the mask mask inside of the previous mask.

Editing a mask after creating a material by ID should just work by clicking the Dynamask,
I can't see SUITE in the video, but the mask should remain. This may be an issue with the version
you are running.
On Quixel Tools Group we've released v2.2.1 Pre Release 3 internally to the group,
