I haven't been in Unity for a long time but I've been curious about Unity5 for a while now so this looked like a good opportunity.
So far I've only just gone through the file and toggled with some of the lights, browsed through the Heirarchy to get myself familiar with the program again. I didn't have anything in mind while playing with some colours but I thought the greenish-blue seemed kind of cool and it reminded me of Dead Space, so perhaps I'll try and go for something sci-fi-ish.
It's a bit dark at the moment so I'll look at getting some nice contrasting light in and I'd also like to change the sky (once I figure out how to do that

You can also change the skybox under window->lighting tab.
I'm finding the global fog shader to be a little tricky to get working properly. For now I'm just using some particles for the fog.
Any comments are welcome. I want to know what else I should focus on to help the scene. Maybe bring in some sci-fi props from the asset store?
Kind of reminds me of Omega from Mass Effect.
I tweaked the materials a bit more for the first shot (above) but figured it was best to move on today and get the next one sorted. So I went through my scene with the latest lighting, found a view that I liked and captured the same view at different time cycles. I chose the fourth lighting setup in the strip and did a quick paint over to try and visualize what it might look like:
So I started to move in this direction:
Not sure how doable an explosion will be but we'll see how this one moves along.
keep it up
Update:
Still not sure about including some fire particle effects even though I did spent a chunk of time today playing around with the parameters. I lost some of the initial glare from the centre of the courtyard so I'll be sure to get that back.
I seem to have decided that this is an industrial space mining facility as well, so my colours are more representative of this idea now.
Maybe I can try to add some light shafts.
I think I'll move on to a different shot now.
I actually like it a lot, so I'll probably spend a bit more time with the camera's image effects.
It reminds me a bit of an Instagram filter, but maybe needs more purple. I'm not 100% sure it will end up as anything but with the remaining time this afternoon I'll see if I can push it a bit more.
I changed the textures of the sand, so it's not the default that is included in the scene.
The third-to-last image (the very pink one, right?) is just normal height fog. But if you're talking about the greeny-yellow image, the volumetric light was made with this effect: https://github.com/robertcupisz/LightShafts
