Looking really nice overall! I think some pieces could use a tad more polish. like the boots and hands (especially the fingers). the arms also look a tad wobbly, especially the biceps. another idea would be maybe try make the mail on the arms with micromesh?
Yea I will probably revisit the the arms here shortly. I really need to fix my base mesh anatomy for my next project. I might do micromesh for the mail armor, for a little more pop in detail and fibermesh for the fur on his cloak and trim. The boots are just blocked out atm, but I'm going through each piece and polishing and adding small details before I retopo and uv unwrap. Thank you guys for the feedback !
Here's a little update on some things I've been working on lately. I've been UV unwrapping each piece and baking out the normals. I also started adding a little more detail to the boots.
Great Suggestions guys! I'm going to start posting more of the sculpted pieces before I take it into topogun. So I can make the changes you guys suggest before I jump the gun on retopology. For now, I wanted to post some pics of my progress with the low poly and bakes.
I changed up the the mail to lay over the arm. Going to make a strap under the arm soon. I used an insert brush and spent time lining up the rows instead of micromesh.
not really digging the micro detail on the chainmail, I guess they are some sort of attachments? right now it looks more like noise and dosnt really match the style, other then that its looking good!
I was going for scale mail that lays over the arms and loosely stays in place with an under strap. If you'd like to send some photos of examples of stuff, Id be interested to see. I also thought about just micro mesh the arms completely with chain mail.
well "real" scalemail kinda just looks like this. or this. you can easily just make the mail go all the way around like a normal chain mail skirt in real life.
but my crit wasn't really aimed at the leather straps, but the small dots on the plates. usually scales are overlapping with each other, thus covering any visible attachment point. the rings that are usually connecting them is covered by the overlapping scales themselves.
Thank you. It's a little time consuming, but it gives me a little better control over the scales. I'll post a pic when I finish it and then probably work on fixing the boots.
Sorry for the lack of updates, but I'm still working on this guy. I changed the trim on the bottom of the jacket and have been slowly working on the scale mail on the arms.

Blocked out the hair and made a new render.
Started Retopo last night. Going through each piece and adding fine detail also.

the fingers are looking really small and thin at the ends though, I think you could thicken them up quite a bit.

Look great btw!
