Hello, I wanted to see if anyone could give me just a basic step by step instruction on making decent low poly fur for clothing. I've recently managed to finally get the concept of making low poly hair but now I'm tasked with adding fur. I've done everything I can think up on the fly with planes (even hand placed over 200 planes!) but no matter how I place the planes it doesn't give off that fur like feeling.
I've looked
hard for any good tutorials but I can't find any for a basic step by step. The closest thing I found to what I'm going for is at this post I found. The OP had the same issue I'm having but manages to pull it off in the end but doesn't explain how, he uses what I'm guess is a "Fur shell" / "Shell Painting" technique which utilizes stacking multiple planes and "fins". The closest thing to googling these terms is either referencing me to the same post I pasted below or the use of the shell modifier.
So I wanted to see if anyone could shed any light on doing any of the forementioned techniques. As shameful as it is be spoon fed information I've spent hours if not days searching, tinkering and back flips trying to get the desired results.
