Started working on this gun by Kris Thaler. Here's what I have so far for the high poly. The main body looks like its based off of Browning M1919 so I'm using that as a reference for the interior.
Nice, you're close with the Browning 1919 base, but it's actually the much bigger sister the Browning M2, which has some noticeably different proportions and details. Some suggestions for the concept is to remove the top carry handle from the feed tray cover and instead use a design that wraps around the barrel, the current iteration would have a person carry from a part that already swings open and has the potential to obstruct the sights. Take a look at the KAC Chainsaw or Mossberg Chainsaw style grips for reference. I also suggest shifting the drum magazine off center axis, as right now it would block where the gun ejects shells straight down, only belt links go out the right side. With the heavy size and weight I think having prominent sling wrapping and support would also be a great visual addition.
I'm not an expert in weapon modeling so no particular critic to make. The only thing that bugs me is the huge amount of tris spent on bolts and screw-type meshes. It just the kind of details that you want to put in the normal map.
The image is too low res to make out some of the text. Should I just leave that off of the gun?
I wouldn't leave it off, no. Try doing something like a serial number or something along the lines of a manufacturer's name or logo. I've even seen the gun name and caliber printed onto some weapons, it's up to you really.

I got the rest of it modeled out and baked.
I've got some texturing done now. The image is too low res to make out some of the text. Should I just leave that off of the gun?
