If i was to offer feedback, i'd like to see some work with less colourized lighting though, ontop of the strong work you have here.
man I would love to! since it's faster to make too hahaha
Thanks
You're very welcome! I'd say, sure you know this, but, always try new things and push your own limits. I've been doing this a lot lately with great results.
Another New Practice that I did yesterday,,
no, not yet, but the truth is I really want to use 3d in My works, but I haven't got quite grip on it. So, I still use photos and perspective grid, but if it comes to perspective heavy stuffs, I'm screwed XD
thanks for the link man, it's wonderful, and it's gpu powered, awesome. I do have world machine, and it's great, but I haven't got quite grip enough about 3d, I know I must learn it because it really shortens perspective work, which is I'm suck at haha, and yeah, it's really fun!
I'm trying to get a job right now, so please wish Me luck
Hey iacoccakhen, your work is incredible. Great job man. Can I ask what your workflow is? I myself have wanted to get into making concept art like this; but I don't know how or where to start?
I've been asked for My workflow for Verszelyite Gorge, and here it is(explanation below)
what I'm doing is 1st before I start painting is getting inspired by looking for a great photographs, or paintings, yes paintings, I believe it's fine to be inspired by other paintings, but not to copy, theres a line between it, and I think it's obvious enough to see that, sorry for the rumble
after that, I do block in sketches in black and white focusing mainly on composition(and value separation).
3rd, for this piece, I picked 1 photo references and pick the light color and dark color, and gradient it on My canvas, after that I scatter it with a smoke brush.
4th, I block in the intended composition from sketch in color, just basic color and basic atmosphere, just to lay the fundamentals(when I'm asked, the psd file is merged, sorry), after that I use basic painting just to show the materials and the light direction.
5th, I use phototextures like a ton of it lol, and overpaint it, and phototextures again and overpaint again until I like it(or until I feel lazy, yeah, I shouldn't)
6th, when I think it's sufficient, I check back for the composition, is it possible to make it better, and adding more details here and there to make the image unique, or more interesting, whatever works, as long as the image is better, or push it in the direction that I personally like(unless it's client work)
7th, after I check back the composition, I check back the overall view, or small view, fixing it's readability, and giving some light effects to make it more prettier, and remember to always check fundamentals, sometime I miss it.
hope it helps!
(I didn't know I have that^ message in cache, I don't know when I wrote them haha)
a recent project that I worked on
No prob man, hope it helps @Stinkhorse
Thanks man! I will eventually hahaha @convolution223
Thanks!
so, if you have any improvement critiques, that would be awesome!
I would start like.. is My contrast alright?,, I don't really talk to any other artist so I have no idea how it works..
So, Thanks! :-D
(for Me), hope can make it awesome for you too :-D
The first one is amazing, though the horizon might be a bit low.
the other 3 are also amazing, though there are some small areas where it's a bit chaotic (hard to tell specificly what the details are).
Though for quick concepts they're way above good enough.
I'm so sorry I wasn't on Polycount for months ):
Please let Me know if you see something that I can improve, Thanks! :-)
I'm pretty happy with this, but this can be improved.
I think the image need a little bit more "punch", but I'm afraid to put it, I think the lights are correctly placed already, but this is not good enough, so, I really cant put My finger where it is(besides composition, it's still quite boring)
I'm quite happy with this honestly, but if you can tell Me where to improve, I would be happier,
Thanks! :-)
Keep it up!
