Shapeways crackdown

I'm wondering if anyone else has noticed Shapeways being really picky about the arbitrary 2mm min wall thickness in sandstone prints? I have been printing with them for a number of years and they seem to have recently become really inflexible with their design restrictions. 

Am I imagining things or are others noticing more rejections as well.

Probably better posted on the shapeways forum tbh. I've noticed that their customer service seems to be pretty good though and people who get bad prints often get a free reprint, so perhaps this is an attempt to cut down on the number of reprints they have to do?

I have submitted 10x and am giving up in frustration. It is unfortunate because I have had no issues for many years. What are my alternatives?
