I have an opacity map i brought in for my model, then over that i have a fill layer with a mask for the small area i wanted to effect. If play with the fill layer i can see in the opacity map view (c key) that my opacity is changing in gray value, but the opacity will not slowly change, it changes to either on full or off fully at around 33% up from full black.
Im using the alpha blend shader with 2.0 and the latest patch. I tried the alpha test with dithering shader from Share, but thats definitely not the look im going for.

So now what happens is that at a 99%+ white value, the affected area is 100% opaque. Below that the area is 100% transparent.
