Hello Polycount

I recently finished a 3 year course in Games Art based in the UK, and have started to apply for junior/graduate art jobs.

I consider myself as a Games artist although i really enjoy creating characters more than environments. but it is very hard to get character jobs unless you have 2+ years of experience (or an prodigy).
I am also capable of 2D art such as illustrations, concepts etc.

Therefore I am looking for your advice:
Which pieces are my strongest and weakest?
What should I add? (more illustrations, environments or characters)
or Critic for a specific work.

Thank you for taking your time in reviewing my portfolio.

So I'm going to critique your site first.
First off, remove the "University Projects" and replace it with personal work. This will only hurt you in the long run as people could consider less of your art if done in a college.
Remove the Sketchbook tab all together, having any WIP models on your website could only have people see the art in a negative light, as people don't remember you for your best work, but your worst. If you want to have a WIP type place to put your art that is fine, but have a link to a blog or another type of site that is not directly connected to your portfolio site.
Also I would remove all together the Serenity Link from your site as all together the art presented is the weakest of all on the main page. That fact is only exaggerated by the somewhat stiff animation. So it would be easiest if you just remove it all together from your site.

Lastly, don't give your self the title "Game Artist" From your portfolio you are a character artist. Character art jobs are super hard to get in this industry that is super hard to get into anyways. I would suggest that you do more of what you did for the James Bond character, as you showed that you have the ability to not only get a model to resemble a likeness of someone recognizable but you also can model props, such as his pistol.

    Hope that was somewhat helpful.

Yes, you make a fair point about changing it into personal work, I never have thought about it that way.

I had a discussion with someone about this matter a while back, and argued that it might limit someone whose purpose is to get his or her foot on the door (first industry experience). So i seem to be unsure with this at the moment.
Although if i were to create more props, would that justify the tittle of  'Game artist'?

Thank you for your feedback DAND3D
