You guys should check it out! I will be most probably there with a bunch of people from CDPR and it would be really awesome to meet some polycounters there and grab a few (or many) beers.
Yeah, I think it's a cool thing too. Personally, I am very excited because awesome animators like Jeremy Collins will be holding lectures and it's a great opportunity to meet and learn from the best.
I keep seeing the pattern with these kinds of events where there are tons of 3D character presentations, whereas there are close to NONE for 3D environments and/or level design. For example, this years IFCC in Croatia had 0 level design presentations. Pretty frustrating.
That's true, I can't remember seeing a conference with many presentations about environment art or design. Last time I went to GDC (that was in 2009 i think), I remember only two, one about mirror's edge level design and I think crytek had something about their environments.
Tell you what, when I get the chance to talk to the people at cdpr who organized the festival, I will let them know about that. I can't do much more than that, it's totally their call after all, but who knows, maybe for the next one they will consider it.
It's alright. I haven't really had much expectations on level design front, but it would be a huge plus if there were some. I would offer myself, but not yet, maybe in 2-3 years. Cheers!
One reason why there is not so many talks by env artists/level designers is that people dont pay as much attention to env art as they do to characters and guns. So its alot harder to be a "rockstar" as an env artist
Haha, glad to hear that fellow polycounters are attending too. I am a totally inconspicuous guy though -I will be wearing a skullgirls and/or BlazBlue T-shirts, which would hopefully be a good dead giveaway I'd love to hang out if there is a chance. So see you Tuesday.
I'm traveling to Lodz today, therefore, I'll have a whole Monday for free, so if anyone's there earlier, we can do some pre-festival meetup(drinkup) or something.
Do you know if it's too late to get a ticket? There was some confusion about who were to order it and now it looks like I ended up without one - I ordered one on but it looks like it has go through some sort of approval?

I'm not even close to Poland but it's good to see that CD Projekt Red is helping to foster a 3d community in a country with a smaller industry.
Eytan Zana, a concept artist from Naughty Dog and Leon Enriquez, 3D Modeller at Framestore will be speakers at the Festival!
Can't wait!
See ya there.
Cheers!
Just wanted to share the schedule for the festival/conference, it'd be great to meet polycounters there

Looking forward to seeing you do your magic!
