Hi guys, this is my first post here.
I've been doing 3d modeling and more recently texturing as a hobby for well over a decade now (I'm 27). But recently I decided to try do some real time models - I haven't done any real time models since I played around with Quake as a teenager, so naturally a lot has changed since then!

I made a drill press, the model has 4518 triangles and a 2K normal and 2K diffuse. This screenshot is from Marmoset Toolbag 2. I was hoping to put this in a demo reel (a game studio recently opened near-ish to me and I'm considering applying) but it's not professional looking yet. I hope you guys can tell me why.

[sorry I can't get the image to appear here so I'll just put the link - sorry again!]

I made a spec map but I'm having difficulty using it in Marmoset - the entire model just goes very dull as soon as I drop it in. The screenshot above does not use the spec map.

I plan to make another prop like this one soon. It'll be an air compressor. These small projects are a quick way to learn new workflows I think.
