Hi. Been a while
As so many people around here, I have really fallen in love with the art style of Overwatch. I think I am more busy looking at the environment than shooting people, so I thought I'd create my own take on an environment.
I immediately thought of Venice and how it would work as a
payload payboat map. I am not going to create a whole map but wanted to focus on a hot spot area where a lot of action is going to occur and will finish that part trying to stay close to the overwatch feeling as possible while keeping the possible gameplay in mind.
Here is some of my progress so far:
I'm mainly still working on the blockout and replacing the building blocks by blockout architecture.

I also still want to add some scifi pieces to the scene to get a little closer to the style. I was thinking about roof installations (solar panel, satellite dishes, power lines) and futuristic gondolas.
Here's an update:
Opened up an area for a big science/university building with a big satellite dish installation. Generally adding some more scifi elements into the scene. Broke up another border of the environment with a water alley with some parallax effects. My goal for the end is to be able to stand in the middle and rotate 360 degrees and always have something interesting to look at without seeing the end of the world.
Also started to work on a back alley area. I thought a little more about the story behind the environment. In my version of Venice an evil corporation it trying to pump away the water. I am going to try to make that clear with hints in the environment the player can find. An obvious one is those pipes
(ground texture is UE4 standard material and will be replaced by one of my own)
