The Concept Artist is responsible for transforming ideas into 2D visual representations that inspire and help feed our 3D artists and Designers. Your unique use of artistic vision, color, proportion and personality come through in every drawing you create. Your creations take on a life of their own through style, shape, pose, and mood.
Responsibilities
- Develop concepts by iteration; start with a rough sketch based upon our game’s needs and continue to iterate and evolve that design with the art and design teams
- Help develop vision, style guides, color palettes and inspirational pieces for the art team
- Develop concepts for all aspects of game development; environments, objects, weapons, and special effects
- Help fully develop and establish definitive personality of key game mechanics, whether they are characters, environments, or objects.
Job Requirements
- Able to work within an established art style
- Strong traditional and digital art skills
- Must be able to create thumbs, comps, key art, production art, and turnarounds
- Graphic design skills are a plus (icons, designs, patterns, etc)
- Excellent communication and team skills
- Able to effectively give and respond to feedback.
- Self-motivation with a strong work ethic
- Able to work in fast-moving environment in both prototype and production capacities
- Avid gamer, passionate about making games
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience and proven concept artist on at least 2 shipped AAA game titles
