Hello everybody! I've just signed up, and I want to ask you for some help with an issue that occured me when I try to apply the displacement map or the vector displacement in 3ds Max.
I had to model a character, so I started with the basic human model of Mudbox. I chose to create Venom, from Spiderman. At the beginning, I spent a few hours with the head and the body. When I was finished, I stepped levels down to 0 and I exported my character as an .obj file. Then I exported the displacement map and the vector displacement from Mudbox as .exr formats.
Then I imported the .obj to 3ds Max and I modelled the teeth and the tongue in 3ds max using the level 0 .obj as the reference. But when I try to apply the displacement to the character, I can't! I tried using the displacement modifier and putting the displacement map into it, and then I played with the parameters, but the result was real shit, nothing to do compared to the Mudbox model. So I decided to apply a standard material with the vector displacement on the section Displacement, and I played with the strenght parameter, but again, a mess of forms completely different to my Mudbox model.
As a last try, I exported the teeth and the tongue as .obj and I imported the into Mudbox, but all the teeth appears really thin, and both the tongue and the teeth can't be painted (because of something related to UV map, I guess).
I am quite a noob, so I don't know practically nothing about UV maps and all that stuff. But I need to solve my problem with the Venom model, I would like to get the displacement map correctly done.
I will be very thankfull if someone helps me.
Thank you very much!
