Hello!
For my next portoflio piece, I would like to make a next-gen worthy log house, similar to those seen in Witcher 3. However, I am not sure what would be the best way of approaching this project. For instance, would it be better to model and sculpt the logs individually and assemble the walls that way; or just use a tiling texture and model from it? And for the roof, should I just use some stepping geometry, with some alpha planes attached to it, to give it more depth, or use another technique?
I hope you could help me out with this. I have also included couple of reference images to illustrate what I mean. Thank you!

About the logs. I guess it's a combination of individual meshes for cornes and tilable textures for walls. About the roof, the method you described is the same he uses.
