    It's inconsiderate to others to delete the contents of your posts. We do not like this.

    It makes it seem like you were embarrassed by your question, even if you were not. But more importantly, it robs others of learning solutions to problems.

    The better way to do this is to leave the original question alone, but reply with the solution. This way, others can learn from you too, and you are giving back to the community. Especially since solution posts are often found via Searches.

    I'm sorry! I agree, more or less, as I think this post was quite redundant and superfluous and there are times when it's ok to delete a post, but I see your point and I understand it's not my forum or my rules, so I'll restore it. 
    Also, I have to say I was indeed, quite embarrassed :)
