I wanted to do something in more of the 70's style cream and beige plastic look with greeble and decals. I've got the colour scheme about right and I've started adding some greeble which I plan to bake down:
I've been busy with work this week so barely had any time (or energy) to work on this. But I feel like I've got the groundwork down now, and I have a vision in my head of what the final skin will look like, so now it's just a case of getting those elements in so I can call it done.
I've tried to go with the "classic" greeble look where it looks like exposed internals. I'm also going to add a few other greeble details to the surface, similar to the ref images. Right now I'm just starting to get the panel lines down:
I also started making some decals which are inspired by Ron Cobb's designs from Alien, the Moon ones are also similar. Here are the refs: (Thanks to Alex Clarke for sharing the Moon decals on his blog.)
